Raheem Sterling's Future: Could Tottenham Be His Next Premier League Destination? (2026)

A Shock Premier League Switch for Raheem Sterling? Tottenham Eyed as a Surprise Destination!

Could Raheem Sterling, the electrifying former Chelsea and Arsenal winger, be on the verge of a dramatic move to Tottenham Hotspur? This unexpected possibility has been floated by none other than former Premier League midfielder Jamie O’Hara, who boldly claims Sterling is “better than what we’ve got”.

Sterling recently departed Stamford Bridge by mutual agreement after a three-and-a-half-year tenure with Chelsea. The club confirmed his exit, stating, 'Raheem Sterling has today departed Chelsea Football Club by mutual agreement, bringing to an end three-and-a-half seasons as our player, having signed in the summer of 2022 when he was transferred from Manchester City. We thank Raheem for the contribution he made while a Chelsea player and wish him well for the next stage in his career.'

Last season saw Sterling on loan at Arsenal, but his impact was somewhat limited, with only seven Premier League starts in 27 appearances across all competitions for the Gunners. Arsenal ultimately decided against a permanent transfer, and Sterling found himself on the fringes of Enzo Maresca’s squad, part of what was termed the 'bomb squad'.

Now, with Sterling having not featured in a competitive match for eight months, O’Hara believes Tottenham would be wise to consider him. He expressed his strong opinion on talkSPORT: “I would have him at Tottenham. I would absolutely take Sterling at Tottenham. I think he’s a good player. He’s better than what we’ve got.”

O’Hara further elaborated, suggesting a short-term deal: “I’d sign him on a contract to the end of the season if he was willing to do that.” He acknowledged that Sterling might have lucrative offers from elsewhere, such as Saudi Arabia, but emphasized, “But if the candle is still lit and he wants to still be a Premier League football player I would give him an opportunity at Tottenham.”

But here's where it gets controversial... O'Hara is convinced Sterling still possesses the drive: “I think he still has the desire. He’s been training on his own and he’s had his contract paid up. He wouldn’t have got the full settlement so he’s basically turned around to them and said I can’t be here anymore I need to go and play. So for me he’s got the desire to play.” He sees a clear need for Tottenham: “Spurs need a left winger. Now, I’m not saying you give him a long-term deal but I’d give him a contract if he was on offer on a free, you get Sterling in a football club.”

And this is the part most people miss... O'Hara's confidence in Sterling's potential is striking: “I think he’s a good player. I think he could still produce moments. I think if he got his confidence back and a bit of belief I would have him at Tottenham.”

What do you think? Is Jamie O'Hara right about Raheem Sterling's potential at Tottenham, or is this a move that's too risky? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
